The Mayor of Bamenda 1 Council
Bamenda 1 Council Mayor is elected by Bamenda 1 residents and recognized as the civic leader of the community with powers to act as the chief administrative officer, advancing community cohesion, promoting civic awareness and is the principal member and spokesperson of the Bamenda 1 Municipality and vote holder to major projects within Bamenda 1 Council Area.
Promoting partnership with other stakeholders towards the development of Bamenda 1 Municipality is a principal priority of the Mayor as well as:
♦Presiding over council meetings and managing conducts of participants
♦Presiding over regular General Council Meetings, where councillors debate and vote on motions
♦Ensuring that administrative practices and procedures are in place to implement the decisions of Bamenda 1 Council
♦Ensuring the accountability and transparency of Bamenda 1 Council’s operations
♦Developing and evaluating the policies and programs of Bamenda 1 Municipality
♦Maintaining the financial integrity of Bamenda 1 Council
When the mayor is unavailable, a deputy mayor can act as the mayor given a delegation of power. Each deputy mayor is elected by a majority of Bamenda 1 Council councillors.
